🔎 Why EXIF Matters for OSINT
EXIF metadata embedded in photos can reveal sensitive information useful in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations:
- Location tracking — GPS coordinates can pinpoint where a photo was taken
- Device identification — Camera make/model and serial numbers can link photos to a specific device
- Timestamp analysis — Original date/time reveals when a photo was actually captured
- Software forensics — Editing software tags show if an image was modified
Always strip EXIF data before sharing photos publicly if you want to protect your privacy: use the Strip metadata tab.
Why Strip Metadata?
Every photo you take can contain hidden data: GPS coordinates revealing where the photo was taken, camera model & serial number identifying your device, timestamps, software used, and even your name if set in camera settings. Sharing unstripped photos online can expose your home address, daily routines, and device fingerprint. Always strip metadata before posting publicly.

Accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP • Multiple files supported
Documents: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Documents carry their own metadata: author, company, editing time, the software used, and the dates it was created and saved. Drop a PDF or an Office file (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) to see what it holds and download a copy without it. The content of the document is not changed.

What this does: Office files keep every part of the document as it is; only the document properties are emptied, the dates inside the ZIP are reset to 1980-01-01, and extra ZIP fields are dropped. PDFs are edited in place: document information values are blanked, XMP metadata is emptied and the document ID is replaced with a random one, so the file keeps its exact layout. Items listed under "Not removed" need the authoring app. Encrypted files and the old .doc/.xls/.ppt formats are not supported.
